Overview

Meds Health is a large, high-tech, 503A compound pharmacy located in Elmhurst, just outside of Chicago. The company is growing very quickly and looking to expand into new products while maintaining the highest level of compliance, quality, and safety.

The Controlled Substances and Security Manager will be responsible for the oversight and management of controlled substances within our facility. This includes ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as implementing and maintaining robust security measures to ensure there is no room for human error. The ideal candidate will have experience in law enforcement, particularly with the DEA, and a thorough understanding of security protocols and regulatory compliance.

About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Controlled Substances Management:
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the secure handling, storage, and disposal of controlled substances
    • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances inventory and ensure compliance with DEA regulations
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
    • Investigate and report any discrepancies or incidents involving controlled substances
  • Building Security:
    • Monitor and design comprehensive security plans for the facility, including access control, surveillance, and emergency response protocols
    • Oversee the maintenance and monitoring of security systems, including alarms, cameras, and access control systems
    • Manage and coordinate security personnel to ensure a secure environment for employees, visitors, and contractors
    • Develop and conduct training programs for staff on security protocols and emergency procedures
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay current with all federal, state, and local regulations related to controlled substances and facility security
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the DEA, to ensure ongoing compliance and address any issues or concerns
    • Prepare required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies for Executive review and appropriate submittal.
  • Incident Management:
    • Respond to and investigate security incidents, breaches, or emergencies
    • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies as needed to address security threats or incidents
    • Develop and implement corrective action plans to prevent future incidents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field preferred
  • Former DEA agent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement or a similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of DEA regulations and controlled substances management
  • Strong understanding of security systems and protocols
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP)
  • Experience with security technologies and systems
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
